Outdoor Education
Learning Through Nature, Inspiring Lifelong Stewardship
- New Learning Environment—Outdoor education moves learning beyond the classroom and into natural environments — through activities like hiking, gardening, field studies, camping, and nature exploration. The benefits are wide-ranging and well-supported by research.
- Multi-Faceted Benefits—Various studies indicate that outdoor education contributes to a healthier, smarter, well-balanced student. Students retain about 70% of what they experience, green space discourages bullying and conflict, time outdoors reduces stress hormone levels.
- Transformative Approach to Education—Outdoor education isn't just a supplement to learning — it's an approach that develops the whole child; nurturing healthier bodies, sharper minds, stronger character, and a deeper connection to the world around them.
- Encourages New Possibilities— Being outdoors and experiencing the wonders of the natural world encourages children to look beyond their technology to careers in agriculture, science, conservation and more. Students also begin to look at other outdoor activities that get them out of the house and from beyond their screens. Biking, hiking, kayaking, winter sports, and the list goes on. Each contributing to a healthier lifestyle and longevity.
Being outdoors helps children build confidence, encourages teamwork, and strengthens the connection with the natural world. Through partnerships with local schools we give educators a safe place to bring their students, allowing for hands-on learning with our other initiatives, but also for educators to expand how they teach a generation used to being indoors.
